
The Whirlybird Compound launched its Artist in Residence Program with visual artist, Stuti Vasavada.
Stuti received her MFA in Printmaking from M.S. University in Baroda, Gujarat, and also received the National Scholarship Award in Visual Art from The Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2002. She was a practicing artist and educator working in engraving and etching.
During her residency at The Whirlybird, she worked in the mediums of fabric art and painting. On May 31, 2023, the Divas Community Workshop was held in the Whirlybird Tower Gallery. The workshop was a public event that celebrated the vibrant festival of Diwali. Participants immersed themselves in the rich traditions and symbolism of Diwali – The Festival of Light – as they painted beautiful Diyas (oil lamps}, representing goodness and purity.
