Need to get away? – or want to jump right into the middle of the fun?!
Peaceful relaxation – or, music, great food, dancing, art, antiques & junk, story-telling and, sho’ nuf, you got that right, FUN abounds at The Whirlybird Compound! And, to top it, we have created three unique hideaways, ideal for travel & vacation rentals for folks far and wide, and, for our local friends. And, if it’s a good fit, custom agreements can be made for larger group events such as weddings, crawfish boils, or family get-togethers – we love friend to friend collaborations. Our listing titles are easy to find on popular social media. And, as small group travel & vacation rentals, you can easily book them directly through Airbnb or VRBO under the following titles:
Folk Art Barn
Located on a tranquil 5-acre farm near Lafayette, the Folk Art Barn is unique, elegant, and spacious – the perfect place for individuals to retreat or friends to stay and enjoy South Louisiana together. On purpose we repurposed a horse barn into a large 2 bedroom getaway. And, besides the comfort, we have an amazing collection of original Southwest Louisiana artwork in the Barn.
Folk Art Honky Tonk
The Folk Art Honky Tonk (affectionately know as The Whirlybird) is a re-purposed creative dream: Jim & Christy brought a vintage Texaco train freight depot and converted it into a dynamic setting for artistic, social and cultural activities – and, for the adventurous, there are two very cool bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a full kitchen. Some say, “the Whirlybird is a Folk Art museum on steroids.” The Whirlybird – our underground dancehall and honky tonk featured in Southern Living Magazine June 2011 – is ground zero for fun accommodations.
Folk Art Tower
The Folk Art Tower has the basics – sleep, toilet, shower, and a place to hang out. WAIT! There’s a LOT MORE than the basics going on. It’s our funky-yet-elegant Artists Palace, dedicated to Folk Art and fun. And, did you know? Yes, you can LIVE INSIDE FOLK ART. Inside the same building resides The Whirlybird Compound Tower Art Gallery and Artist’s studio – visitors are welcome.
